 In early 1988, Major Mail’s founder, Larry Billingsley, saw an opportunity to exercise both his entrepreneurial spirit and business skills when he was laid off as a result of a merger. In search of new business opportunities, he eagerly pursued the purchase of a defunct mail service company that had defaulted on a bank loan. His perseverance resulted in securing the deal and Major Mail was founded on October 3, 1988.
The company doubled and tripled in the first five years, and at an average rate of twenty percent each year after that. Volume increased so rapidly that it quickly outgrew the original space and made a move to Spring Street in 1990, where it tripled the floor space and added more equipment and services to meet both customer demand and improve speed and efficiency. While at this location the company expanded twice within the building and the workforce grew from five to seventeen full-time employees before it made the move to its current location at Northeastern Blvd.
In 1998, celebrating ten years in business and realizing the time was right for a facelift, Major Mail Enterprises became Major Mail, Inc. Soon after, Larry recognized the opportunity to expand the company’s capabilities by adding new talent to the Major Mail team to support the addition of complimentary Marketing related service offerings. By February 2000, Major Mail had again exceeded capacity and expanded within the same building to occupy over 18,000 square feet of space.
Larry Billingsley, the owner and President of Major Mail Inc. attributes the growth and success of the company to assisting customers in becoming successful. This is achieved by making the customer’s needs a priority and exceeding their expectations. |
